As a mental health counselor I help individuals to alleviate stressful psychological and/or behavioral symptoms, increase self-awareness, build self-esteem, and facilitate autonomy.
If you are a living breathing human being wandering through this mad mad world, then you can probably use somebody to talk to. A counselor is not only a sounding board for your problems, we can help to lead you through the jungle of your emotional world, shining a bright light on the ambiguities, inconsistencies, fears, and desires that shadow you throughout the day. You hold the map. We have the compass.
Philosophy & Approach.
I am client-centered and solution-driven. My approach to psychotherapy is psychodynamic at its core, with a humanistic stance, and integrated techniques. What does all of this jargon mean? Well, it means that through a psychodynamic conceptualization of a problem, we can work together to find the source of an issue, examining unconscious motivations, and increasing self-awareness. Humanism is essential to practice in its non-judgmental and empathic approach, as well as its mode of existential questioning.
